Ekilie Cloud is a hosting and deployment platform for people who want the control of a VPS with the convenience of a PaaS. Point it at your server and it handles sites, TLS certificates, deployments, storage quotas, subscriptions and process lifecycle. The orchestration lessons behind it shaped my essay on why most engineers should not build distributed systems.
What it does
- Managed deployments for apps and static sites on your own VPS
- Automatic SSL, domains and reverse-proxy configuration
- Instance orchestration with JWT auth, RBAC and storage quotas
- Subscription billing and usage metering for SaaS-style resale
- Lightweight on-box agent (ekilied) instead of heavy control-plane daemons
Architecture
A Go control plane (Gin, GORM, PostgreSQL) issues desired-state commands; a small Go agent on each VPS converges the machine: systemd units, Nginx/Caddy configs, certificates, log shipping. Everything is observable by default, because infrastructure that pages you at 3am is a bug.
Ekilie Cloud is currently closed-source and live at ekilie.cloud. For the open source building blocks, see BeamDrop and ekilied.
